Earth Day, Every Day...Exchange Empty Essentials for Travel Size Toiletries!

WOW! I am always looking for places to recycle odds and ends...what a great deal I came across (not that I NEED an incentive to recycle every last bit after great documentaries, such as Wall-E);

As part of Origins‘ ongoing initiative to protect the environment, the skin care company will take your empty cosmetic packaging –everything from bottles, tubes, jars, deodorant sticks and compacts regardless of the brand- to be recycled, when possible, or responsibly converted to energy.

As a thank you for supporting the Return to Origins Recycling Program, the company will gift you with free Origins samples.

Thanks to www.thecentsableshoppin.com , my favorite go-to site for weekly grocery savings.

Why should we buy local & go organic? Why, it's just an extension of my dreams to live in a simpler society such as that long ago!

On this Earth Day, join one of their many campaigns. Most urgently, I recommend Millions Against Monsanto http://organicconsumers.org/monsanto/index.cfm

Weekend Fairs

Maybe it's because Eli & I always sing "Wonderwheel," maybe it's because fairs represented such magical times of my youth where I was given a glimpse of freedom to do something daring, if only for a moment, maybe it's the glimmer of the crowds of the city that I grew up in...but if I hear "fair," I WANT to go!

Raising Responsible Citizens Starts In School?!`

We can only hope it would and could here in the public school system! Just as I feel we should adopt more of the Canadians healthcare policy, maybe we should look to this school for some MAJOR inspiration as well!

Follow That Blog...it leads to creativity & inspiration...

What an amazing inspiration Dana LaRue and her site is! Now, more than ever, is the time to start following; Dana, in a purely raw and humble way, has fully disclosed her medical situation of the severe difficulties that are faced by herself, family, and business when coping with her autoimmune disease and is now announcing a fundraiser.

Dishing for Dana will donate a portion to the American Autoimmune Related Disease Association http://aarda.org/ and, in return, release links to some great collections of recipes, which I know my foodie friends will LOVE!

Please check out the story here, for her story is close to my heart:

It is a:

These Deals Are Making Me Dizzy...But What a Doozy!

I don't usually share deals unless they are SUPER-DUPER deals and/or great sites; this site is a local site AND gives back to the organization of YOUR choice (school or charity) with every purchase. If the org. isn't listed, just suggest it to them!

Heir to my treasures

So one of the women at my favorite places to go treasure hunting is now quite familiar with me and took a liking to my son. Now that we are having such an early heatwave she offered him a gift; he got to choose a little toy fan. He choose the one that needs batteries and has a water dispenser. When he asked if I had batteries in my purse (yes, I have been know to even carry back-up batteries in my magical carpet bag), I said I am not sure what type it needs. Before he handed the "toy" to me for me to look at, he responded "it takes L - I - T - E type batteries. Do you have those?" When I looked down at the fan to figure out what he was talking about, because even though he is only 3, he is really smart and is learning about AA v. AAA, he was already being branded by liquor companies!

days gone by

WOW! Have I got stuff to post! This weekend will be a weekend of rebuilding my e-bay and ecrater, not to mention a few great finds to be added to etsy (a vintage Louis I am drooling over as well as a fab De Nicola 3 strand turquoise necklace)! Sorry, Blogspot, for neglecting you, but I have found the much underrated art of searching for rare books (and posting on Amazon). Yes, I still believe in the old school way of reading and have not gone to Kindle or IPad or any other book that cannot romance me with that musty smell of the textured paper between my fingers.

And (sadly) I must confess that I have sold the amazing Zenith! Although, I look at it more as rehoming, considering the decision was ONLY made for the sake of preserving it due to a teething new puppy! I do feel confident it has gone to a good home to be cherished by many and danced to in the way it was meant to be! Au revoir, my stereophonic find!
